Description

Spooky, buttery Halloween sugar cookies that hold their shape and are perfect for decorating. Ideal for parties, kids, and festive fun.

Ingredients

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 ½ tsp vanilla extract
Optional: ½ tsp pumpkin spice or orange zest

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and airy.
Add egg and vanilla; mix until smooth.
Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
Roll out dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut into Halloween shapes.
Place cookies on the baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are just golden.
Cool completely before decorating with icing or chocolate.

Notes

You can freeze unbaked cookie shapes for up to 2 months.
Add food coloring to dough or icing for a festive Halloween look.
Try flavor variations like maple extract or cinnamon for added fall flavor.
